This page describes how information may be collected, used, shared and protected when people use Menuvanta, and what choices they have about it.

It applies to everyone who interacts with the site: visitors opening menus, venue teams working with us on how a room appears, and anyone who writes in through Open Line. You do not need an account to read menus here, so for most visitors the amount of information involved is small.

It is written in plain language rather than legal shorthand, and it is meant to be readable in one sitting. Where the law that applies to you gives you rights beyond what is set out here, those rights stand regardless of what this page says.

Four things are covered, in this order: the kinds of information that may be collected or received; how that information may be used; the circumstances in which it might be shared with others; and the choices, questions and updates that follow from all of it.

Section one

Information we use to power food discovery

Some information arrives because you chose to send it. Some arrives automatically from the device and browser you are using when you visit.

Broadly, it falls into these kinds:

Contact details you share when you send a message: Such as a name and an email address, along with whatever you choose to write in the message itself.
Venue-related information provided by teams: Menu content, factual details about a room, and correspondence about how an entry should appear or be corrected.
Technical and usage information: Device and browser type, and general information about how pages are reached and used, of the sort a website receives automatically when it is visited.
Content contributed for listings or feedback: Corrections, suggestions, and any material submitted in support of them.

Information about venue menus and the public details of a place may also be gathered from sources other than the individuals visiting this site, where that is permitted and appropriate. That is how a menu can already be held here before anyone from the room has written in.

What you send is up to you. A note about a menu can be useful without carrying much about you at all, beyond a way to reply if a question comes back.

Section two

What We Do With What We Collect

Information is used to operate Menuvanta, to provide and improve the menu listings it holds, to answer messages, and to keep the service reliable and secure.

In practice that means uses such as:

Maintaining menu entries and updating them as venues and their cards change.
Responding to enquiries from venue teams and from visitors, and following them up where a question needs answering.
Investigating and fixing technical problems with the site.
Understanding in general terms how the site is used, so that the way menus are presented can be improved.
Meeting legal or regulatory obligations where they apply, and protecting against misuse of the service.

The aim is to use information in ways consistent with what this site is for - a destination that holds complete menus - and with the law that applies. Information sent about a menu is used to work on that menu; it is not repurposed into something you would be surprised by.

Section three

When Information Might Be Shared

Menuvanta does not sell personal information. Information may be shared with a limited number of others, and only where doing so is needed to operate, protect or improve the service.

The situations where that can happen are:

With service providers who support the running of the site - hosting, maintenance, and the handling of messages - acting on our behalf.
With a venue team, in relation to their own listing, where a message or a correction concerns how that room appears.
Where required in order to comply with law, regulation, or a valid legal process.
Where necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of Menuvanta, of the people who use it, or of others.

Any sharing is meant to be limited to what the stated purpose actually requires, and those receiving information are expected to handle it responsibly and to use it only for the purpose it was shared for.

Your Options, Questions, and Changes to This Page

You have choices about some of what is described above, and you can ask about any of it.

The choices most people have include:

Adjusting your browser settings, including how your device handles storage and similar technologies while you browse.
Deciding what to include when you write a message or fill in a form - a note about a menu rarely needs much about you.
Asking about access to, correction of, or deletion of information, where the law that applies to you provides for it.

Questions and requests about privacy can be sent through Open Line, which reaches the people responsible for this destination. Say what you are asking about and, if it concerns a message you sent before, roughly when you sent it.

This page may be updated from time to time - because the service changes, or because the requirements that apply to it do. An updated version takes effect when it is posted here, and continuing to use Menuvanta after that means accepting the updated information. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
